Current Job Market ConditionsYes, unfortunately this is the reality of our current job market. I have friends as well, who graduated from very good universities, that have yet to land a job.I'd like to provide fresh graduates with another perspective - from the viewpoint of someone hiring. If you see the post below, its a problem of competition. If you are someone who is hiring, and your candidate base consists of hundreds of 3.8, 3.9 or even 4.0 gpa and internship experience as well, would you choose someone who, with the same level of experience, has lower gpa? If so, why?Refer back to a basic business theory, the more competitive a market is, the better a product has to be to attract consumers. In this case, to stand out, to get picked, you have to be better. How? Experience. Slowly build rapport by taking in smaller jobs or jobs with lesser competition and climb up bit by bit. If not, more internship is better than doing nothing. Provide the reason to answer the "why" part of my previous question, and you will get hired. Please don't give up, I too had to do a combined 2 years of internship experience to land an MT role. 2 years, and I am aged 22. I am not saying this to demoralize, but this is the competition you are facing with.Compete, grow. Very much good luck to all of you out there!P.S. If you are in Indonesia, and trying to look for a job, hit me up, I'll try to see if I can help you get one. Currently, my friends are #hiring for experienced IT technicians, my previous comp is hiring for Finance AR, and colleagues from my network hiring for e-commerce related positions. Thanks!

I wish to resonate the point made by Raymond Liemarta especially on this line : "Stand out by taking MORE INTERNSHIPS OR SMALLER JOBS first relating to the position you want to take"I have two stories from real candidates and both now are rising in the organisation.A: On taking MORE INTERNSHIPSFrom a foundation in Islamic studies to excelling at Jordan University in Islamic Jurisprudence with the highest scores, his journey is inspiring. After graduation, this talent returned to Malaysia, but instead of diving straight into a job, he pursued an internship for a year. Understanding the critical need to master English for his dream role in a Shariah team at a bank, he spent a year at a research center improving his English skills—both spoken and written—on a minimal stipend. His commitment paid off when, after the internship, he joined a prestigious graduate program similar to the Young Leaders Programme #YLP at #BankIslam. His breakthrough came during the Graduate Assessment Centre, where he stood out as the top candidate by presenting a business turnaround strategy entirely in English. Despite tough judges, his impressive command of English and insightful recommendations earned him high praise. Now, he is recognized as a rising star in the Shariah space within the Islamic banking industry.B: On taking SMALLER JOBSShe graduated as the top student in her faculty, nearly achieving a perfect 4.00 GPA. Despite her impressive academic credentials, landing her dream job was no easy feat. Determined to break into the banking sector, she humbly accepted a position as a temporary officer in compliance. Her goal was clear: set foot in the bank and climb from there. Her dedication quickly paid off—originally a six-month contract, she was offered a permanent role after just three months thanks to her outstanding performance. Did she face setbacks? Absolutely. She once reached the final round of a prestigious program similar to the Young Leaders Programme at Bank Islam, only to fall short. But she didn’t let that stop her. She persevered, continued to prove her worth, and is now an essential and rising talent in her team. What does this mean? Both talents soared to success by strategically recognizing their strengths and weaknesses, particularly identifying their gaps and addressing them with humility and dedication. The saying 'You reap what you sow' resonates deeply whenever I reflect on their stories, echoing the wise words of Raymond.p.s :#BankIslam opportunities to graduates are currently open :a) For fresh grads - Young Leaders Programme #YLP :https://lnkd.in/gR3Wsn6yb) For internship seekers - #BankIslam #Internship Programme #BIIP :https://lnkd.in/gEtVsU6Vc) For students at Uni - #BankIslam Youth Ambassador #BIYA :https://lnkd.in/gjPCFKuZ

Looking forward to thegradirelandGraduate Careers Fair tomorrow -we have over 500 students registered to attend! Today I worked with students on making the most of the fair. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 1: Go with a plan – mix of seminars and employers 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 2: Look through the companies attending-look up their grad programmes on the excel spreadsheet we have produced so you can target the companies and roles you are most interested in. (https://lnkd.in/eYNP3NRd) we 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 3: Pick outyour favourites – Think of 3-4 questions you want to ask each of them based on your research and questions that will help your decision and application. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 4:Prepare a short 1-2 line pitch on you! need to be mindful of time & not monopolising the recruiter. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 5: Get the name of the person you spoke with Here are some of the questions I suggested could be useful. What else would you add? 𝐍𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬: ✓Number of roles they recruit for in the area you are interested in/ How many applications they usually receive/ How they choose who to interview/What impresses them? ✓It may be that the area you are interested in is not on the graduate programme – you could ask the best way to approach that – how they recruit for these roles. ✓Closing dates if not on website ✓Minimum entry requirements if you have a specific question not on the website. ✓What qualities they look for in graduates/ interns (beyond what is on the website?) ✓What type of previous work experiences do they look for in candidates ✓Any short courses they look for in graduates? ✓How long does the hiring process take? What does it consist of? ✓Do they have any insight days etc you could attend? 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: ✓Think about what is important to you and ask questions related to that – so it may be questions related to personal development, challenge, diversity, sustainability, security, early responsibility depending on your core values. ✓Culture of company ✓Where have past graduates progressed to ✓What backgrounds did last years’ graduates have ✓Typical day in the life of a graduate. ✓Biggest challenge / greatest opportunity they have had in the company ✓Why they love working there ✓What types of experiences did last years’ graduates have ✓You could mention something about the training /mentoring they have mentioned on the website. 𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐝𝐠𝐞: ✓What advice would they have for a final year student/ intern ✓Their name so you can connect with them on LinkedIn and reference them in applications.
